Summer Party Experience
After missing out on opportunities last spring, I’m working hard to get myself out during the summer. Last Saturday, I attended a summer get-together for my church group. We played volleyball and cooked out. Even though I felt nervous among a large group of people, I did have fun and got into some interesting conversations with new people. In fact, they seemed to enjoy hearing about my hearing loss community.
Playing volleyball was a new experience for me as well; I don’t remember the last time I played, if ever. I was a bit nervous about getting hit in the head with the ball because of my $5000 hearing aids. As a result, I couldn’t play as freely as others did; perhaps that’s one reason I never considered playing sports while growing up.
Have you attended any get-togethers with family or friends this summer yet? Share your experiences and just for fun, tell us what you enjoy doing for the summer. Are there any challenges you face in relation to your hearing loss? I know I’m not the only one dealing with this. Join us at Wednesday’s Open Chat Night.
