First Day of School
Summer vacation is over, and students will be returning to school soon. Share your interesting stories about your first days of school.
Back in middle and high school, I always dreaded the first day of classes. I was never one of the “popular” or “cool” kids and didn’t have any close friends, so I never really knew anyone on the bus or who would be in my class. In fact, I never slept well the night before the first day of school because of anxiety.
I do have one story to share, though: on the first day, the teachers would take roll call and most of them never could pronounce my name correctly. So, when my name came up, they would get this blank look on their face as they struggled to say it. I would then have to raise my hand and repeat my name until they got it right. Don’t even ask about pronouncing my last name-- that didn’t make things any easier! At times, it was uncomfortable and embarrassing, but looking back on it, I can laugh about it now.
